About Goalie Play

When NHL goalie Jackie Dempsey suffers a career-altering injury during a game, he is forced to confront his own fragility, reflecting on love and belonging in a sport that celebrates aggression and sacrifice. A lone percussionist, hovering behind the glass, personifies Jackie’s pulse of ambition, underscoring and driving his narrative. Goalie Play is a boundary-pushing new-work that immerses the audience into the arduous world of professional sport through clown, puppetry, and live music.
