Four workshops, one weekend: Welcome to the Common Ground Arts Producer Lab.

Saturday November 30 + Sunday December 1, join us in Studio Theatre at the Fringe Theatre Arts Barns for a weekend of scheming and daydreaming as we explore four topics every indie producer tackles in their theatremaking journeys. You can just join one OR sign up for all four! Your Lab is up to you.

  • All four workshops are Offer-What-You-Will. Our suggested prices: $50 for a single workshop, $40/workshop for two or $30/workshop if you sign up for all four. Only able to offer $5 or $10 – or nothing at all? No worries, we just want to see you there.
Name your price when you sign up through the Edmonton Fringe Theatre Box Office!
  • Workshops will be designed to have something for all levels of experience in producing independent theatre (including none at all).

The Debut by Kena León (RISER 2024), MINE by Ashleigh Hicks (RISER 2023), Ghosts Are Everywhere (Found 2023)

Workshops will be panel discussions with participant Q&A in the Studio Theatre at the Fringe Theatre Arts Barns (10330 84 Avenue NW).

All workshops will be facilitated by Common Ground Arts’ Managing Producer Mac Brock.

with special guests Selina Painchaud (Technical Director, Edmonton Fringe Theatre)
and Even Gilchrist (Sterling Award-nominated production designer, producer, playwright)

Your technical team are the unseen VIPs. How do you set them up for a seamless design process, production meeting, and tech week? This workshop will go in-depth on the many technical roles your indie show might need and tasks on your to-do list to keep a 10/10 working relationship.

with special guest Lana Hughes
(Associate Artistic Director, Shadow Theatre / former Managing Director, Catalyst Theatre)

From DOT to Artist Collective and ADC to LOA, contracts can be a mountain of technical jargon. This workshop will cover the types of professional contracts producers should understand, the basics for an indie letter of agreement, and alternative ways to document responsibilities that will get your work off to a great start.
