Audition Call: Brick Shithouse by Ashleigh Hicks
Audition Notice
Deadline to apply April 12th 2024
BRICK SHITHOUSE
Written by Ashleigh Hicks
Directed by Sarah J Culkin
Brick Shithouse has been developed with the Found Festival’s 2023/2024 Fresh AiR (artist-in-residence) program. Found Festival, presented by Common Ground Arts Society, is an annual arts festival that celebrates theatre/music/dance/poetry/visual art in unexpected places.
About the Show:
Influencers are millionaires and inflation is on the rise: so, seven best friends/worst enemies are anonymously livestreaming their fight club in a desperate attempt to keep up with rent. When their viewers start to demand more and more (and offering top-dollar to get what they want), each fighter must figure out where they draw the line. At risk of doxxing, death threats, and darkweb pervs, these seven must figure out how to band together before they tear each other apart. Brick Shithouse is a fast, funny, unforgiving new work wrestling with questions of love, need, power, and consent – and how all that changes when there’s money on the table.
About the roles to be cast:
This play has 7 characters in it. We are looking for submissions for the following roles. We are looking for frank, funny actors who can commit to the physically demanding verité style of the play and mesh into an ensemble.
Please note: All roles require fighting and working blue (swearing). All characters speak sexually explicit text; not all roles require intimacy. We are only casting actors 18 years and older.
Elliot – 20s Captain. Hot bitch, walls all the way up. Never met a hill she wouldn’t die on. Role requires nudity + intimacy
Derek – 20s The kid that parents stay together for. Easy on the eyes, thinks he might get his way, knows better. Role requires nudity + intimacy
Porter – 20s Newbie. Guarded, alluring, they’re the only one with First Aid training. Non-binary and/or trans-feminine actors only please!
Rosie – 20s Nonbinary girl-next-door. Stubborn, fan favourite, ready to snap. Almost Jaeger’s step-sister.
Jaeger – 20s Homesick in his own house. A loveable masochist. Trying desperately not to lose the plot. Almost Rosie’s step-brother.
