About Hysteria’s House
Hysteria’s House tells the tale of Hysteria Winthrop, a young, single woman currently living in an attic. In order to escape, she has two options:
1. Find a brooding and handsome man and get him to propose to her! or
2. Literally just die, and be remembered as a tragic and beautiful heroine instead of some basic spinster.
Hilarious and cutting in equal measure, Hysteria’s House is a satirical clown/neo-bouffon character piece rife with dark comedy that takes aim at misogyny and notions of idealized womanhood through a deliciously gothic lens, drawing frightening parallels between the Victorian era and the times we live in today.
As Hysteria searches the audience for a potential husband, she must come to terms with her place in the world, for better or for worse.
