In My Own Little Corner, In My Own Little Chair
By Carly Neis
Directed by Sarah J Culkin
About the Project: In My Own Little Corner is a cabaret filled with songs and stories centered around the idea that even circles have a beginning, middle, and end – and how we honour and accept a change of circumstance as a new beginning, challenge, and opportunity. This solo show will touch on disability, friends, grief, and giving yourself permission to be whoever you want to be!
Other production collaborators include Even Gilchrist (Set/Costume Designer), Lindsey Walker (Sound Designer), Kristi Hansen (Dramaturg), Lindy Mullen (Associate Producer), Lauren McCarthy (Stage Manager), and Daniel Belland (Composer/Arranger).
First day of rehearsal: January 24
Technical Rehearsals: February 14-21
Performance Run: February 22-March 1
(Start/end dates are tentative and subject to minor changes.)
Role: Project Support Worker
Time: The Project Support Worker will be expected to attend all rehearsals alongside the lead artist. This may vary between 30-42 hours per week based on rehearsal hours (no more than five days per week). Some prep hours ahead of January 24 may be requested.
Notes: This role includes care for the lead artist during the rehearsal and production process. Tasks include but may not be limited to transportation to and from rehearsals (using the lead artist’s accessible vehicle), taking blocking/direction notes on behalf of the lead artist, care for the lead artist’s service dog, assistance with pre-performance (getting into costume, support with hair/makeup, etc.), and other tasks as required. Experience in theatre practice is an asset.
Note that a valid drivers license is required for this position and should be identified in the expression of interest. The Project Support Worker will use the lead artist’s vehicle for transportation during rehearsals.
